UF CARE member Jeremy McIntyre, Ph.D. and Executive Committee member Barry Setlow, Ph.D. have received an R21 award from the National Institute on Drug Abuse titled “Novel Neuromodulation of Motivated and Addictive Behaviors.”

Substance use disorders are a significant health issue in the US, estimated to cost 740 billion dollars and responsible for tens of thousands of deaths annually . The research aims of this application will help to identify novel signaling mechanisms that impact behavioral responses to drugs of abuse. The long-term goal of this project is to determine the utility of these mechanisms for reducing substance use.  -Public Health Relevance Statement
