In our inaugural Fall presentation, Dr. Cox provided a lecture entitled "Understanding and Addressing High Risk Alcohol Use Among Young Adults". This well attended talk brought addiction science into prevention and Public Policy. This work is still developing, so the lecture was not recorded, but look forward to the outcomes!

Congratulations to Vijaya Seegulam who defended her dissertation. Her committee included UF CARE members: Drs. Linda Cottler, Chair, Chris McCurdy, and Sara Jo Nixon.  

Mark Britton, former F31 recipient, also defended his dissertation this summer. His mentor was Dr. Robert Cook (PHHP, Epi).

Community Outreach

Ms. Brandy Stone, a member of our Community Advisory Committee, is working to bridge the gap between SUD treatment and the Gainesville community. Gainesville Fire Rescue received grant funding for the Medication Assisted Treatment Program (MAT), a mobile model to serve patients in the local community.  
This program was featured in the Journal of Emergency Medical Services webinar titled "How Grassroots Community Paramedicine Launched a City's Role in Public Health".
